Welcome

Companion to Chronic Pain is about exploring how to companion chronic pain, using methods from Process Work & the Open Studio Project. Art and creatively expressing the nature of pain can be ways to support ourselves and our self-healing powers.

Making art using Process Work helps with stepping outside of our one-sidedness which helps with hopelessness and despair, and is a creative meaningful way to be with some thing that is chronic and painful.

Research shows creative arts improve health outcomes.

No previous art experience is necessary and we use art in a non-intimidating atmosphere within a healing field of community creativity.

These posts are from a series of classes we did on chronic pain. Each post includes the art work and witness or writing that came to the person as they looked at their work.

We are Suzette Payne M.A. and Kara Wilde M.A. graduates in Process Oriented Psychology. We are interested in studying ways of exploring our health challenges and experiences using all forms of art and creativity to help us in our everyday lives. Suzette is an Open Studio Project facilitator and has a private practice in Portland, OR.
